An allergy diagnosis can be complex, and you may be left with more questions than answers. For example, what’s the difference between skin and blood testing? Do you need both? Are you a good candidate for a food challenge? How likely are you to outgrow an allergy? Are you at risk for an anaphylactic reaction? In this session, you’ll learn about the two types of specific IgE blood tests: whole allergen and allergen components. Allergen component testing can help you better understand your allergy, by providing insights that shed light on answers to all of those questions for foods including milk, egg, peanuts, and tree nuts. This information can help guide next steps and determine whether a food challenge is necessary.
